CASHMERE, SILK & WOOL
Material Guide

Natural materials – chosen with care
At Wuth Copenhagen, cashmere is the heart of our collections. We also work with silk and wool, each of which brings special qualities to our designs. Common to them all is their natural origin and the comfort they bring to the wardrobe.
The choice of material is an important part of every design. A cashmere pullover should feel soft and comfortable, a light blouse should drape beautifully, and a wool coat should provide warmth and structure. Here you can read about the differences between cashmere, silk, and wool – and why we choose them for different styles.
Cashmere – softness, lightness and comfortable warmth
Cashmere is our primary material, and the majority of our knitwear is made from 100% cashmere. The fine fibers come from the soft undercoat of the cashmere goat, which helps protect it against the cold. At Wuth Copenhagen, we use Grade A cashmere from Inner Mongolia. The fineness and length of the fibers are important for both the softness of the material and the quality of the finished knit.

100% CASHMERE
Why is cashmere so soft?
The unique softness of cashmere is due to the very fine fibers in the goat's undercoat. They are finer than many common wool fibers and give the knit a soft and comfortable feel against the skin.
One of the advantages of cashmere is the combination of lightness and warmth. The material can provide comfortable insulation without feeling heavy, making it suitable for both cozy sweaters, cardigans, and soft accessories.
It is precisely this balance that we value: knitwear that feels light to wear and provides comfort throughout different seasons.
SILK
a smooth and lightweight natural fiber
Silk is a natural fiber extracted from the silkworm's cocoon. The long, fine fibers have a smooth surface, which gives the material its characteristic softness and subtle luster.
Silk feels light against the skin and can absorb moisture, which contributes to pleasant comfort. This makes the material suitable for styles worn close to the body.
Why do we combine silk and cashmere?
In our basic collection, we work with a blend of 85% silk and 15% cashmere. Here, the smooth surface and lightness of silk meet the softness and warmth of cashmere.
The result is a fine, lightweight knit that is comfortable to wear on its own or as an extra layer under a cardigan or jacket. Our silk and cashmere blouses and tops are created to be versatile favorites that you can wear all year round.

Wool – natural warmth and beautiful texture
Wool is a natural fiber that we use for our jackets and coats. The material combines insulating properties with a structure that is well-suited for outerwear.
The natural crimp of the wool fibers helps trap air within the material. This air contributes to the insulation and makes wool a great choice for chilly days.
Why do we choose wool for our outerwear?
Wool provides both warmth and structure to our designs. It supports the silhouettes of our coats and jackets, creating an elegant look while feeling comfortable to wear.
We select wool qualities with a focus on softness, comfort, and a beautiful drape. Depending on the quality, thickness, and layers worn underneath, a wool jacket or coat can be worn throughout autumn, winter, and early spring.
Cashmere, silk, or wool – which should you choose?
The right material depends on how you wish to use your style. Choose cashmere when you want soft knitwear that combines lightness with comfortable warmth. Choose silk and cashmere for lightweight blouses and tops that can be worn close to the skin or layered under other garments. Choose wool for jackets and coats where warmth, structure, and silhouette go hand in hand.
At Wuth Copenhagen, we choose the material according to the purpose of the design. Our starting point is always 100% natural materials and timeless styles that you will want to return to – season after season.
